Career Development
Career development allows you to focus on the necessary tasks to accomplish your career goals. Career development is critical due to the rates of organizational change, collapsing career ladders, and increased job performance knowledge and skill growth requirements. During your Army career you have enormous opportunities to acquire and enhance your skills, assume responsibility, and gain experience.
Use the Army's NCO Professional Development Guide (chapters 4 through 36) to obtain detailed career guidance regarding your MOS' major duties, development goals, institutional training, operational assignments, self development, additional training, and special assignments.
Use the below portals to better manage your Army career.
-
ATIA to access, review, and print your MOS' specific career map; and obtain professional and accredited certifications from the Distance Education and Training Council.
-
AHRS to review and compare your Enlisted Record Brief (ERB) against the above career guidance and map. This step is important to formulating a solid career plan, determining whether you are on track, and establishing your education, training, and assignment progression goals.
-
IPERMS to match your Official Military Personnel File (OMPF) with your ERB. Consistency in your records is paramount to advancement and transition.
-
EPMD to access valuable promotion, evaluation, and branch information.
-
GoArmyEd to pursue and manage your educational goals and tuition assistance benefits.
-
COOL to fill-in training, experience, and credential gaps with specific MOS related certifications and licenses.
-
ATTRS to review Army courses' and schools' scope and prerequisite information.
Use the Army's Enlisted Assignments and Utilization Management regulation to access information regarding the scope, objective, and selection criteria of various Special Programs and Assignments (chapters 5, 6, 8, and 9).
Contact your Career Counselor to discuss any of your career development questions.
