Career Planning
Career planning requires you to make career decisions and life plans involving time and self-study. Making abrupt or uniformed decisions, based solely on personal opinion or test results, rarely produce a successful outcome. Career planning empowers you to make quality career and life decisions by combing sound research and informative discussions with your career counselor. Career planning enables you to enrich your knowledge of all career possibilities and opportunities, while clarifying self-understanding.
Use the career exploration tool to assist you in establishing your career plan. The tool guides you through a progressive process of self-assessment, career option exploration, skill assessment, researching occupations, and managing a career.
Complete the GoArmy questionnaire to match your interests against the Army's Military Occupational Skills (MOS) inventory. Compare your results with the MOS description and list of qualifications (chapter 10) for each MOS. If you are considering exiting the Army, use the occupation translator to view comparable civilian occupations.
Another crucial factor to consider is your compensation package. People tend to overlook the significance a compensation package has on their current and future lifestyle. Review your Army compensation and benefits package. If you are considering exiting the Army, carefully research and compare your Army compensation package against civilian packages under the individual occupational profile.
Contact your Career Counselor to discuss any of your career planning questions.
